It’s safe to place your dishwasher upright now simply replace the three screws located at the back of the dishwasher base plate. Reassemble the anti flood switch (make sure to attach the terminal wire), and secure the dishwasher base panel with the three screws. Step 9 - Reattach The Anti-Flood Switch & Base Plate The original manufacturer clips to the hoses are not meant to be re-used. A jubilee clip is simply a metal clip that can be adjusted and it’s used to secure pipes or hoses. There might be some excess water in the wash pump, so we recommend you have a cloth to catch any water before continuing.ĮSpares Top Tip: It would be advisable to have jubilee clips available to finish off your repair.
Repeat the process for the remaining two hoses. Use a little bit of movement while pushing the wash motor down, and you should be able to release the hose. Time for the hoses to be taken off now.you need to use a pair of pump pliers and get a firm grip around the hose and clip.
You need to apply some slight pressure to release this clip, (be careful of the sharp edge running along the bottom of the cabinet).ĮSpares Top Tip: Place a cloth down to protect your arms and wrists before you do this. Removal of the spring clip…you will notice that there is a large spring clip that is holding the motor in place. See our plumbing section for more information.Bye, Bye Wash motor.Disconnect the electrical connectors, these are attached to the wash motor (there should be one at the top and one at the bottom).ĮSpares Top Tip: Take a quick photo of how they are connected, for reference later when fitting the new wash motor. Chemicals are not very effective at clearing a slow drain because they flow through too quickly. Try clearing the drain with a mechanical device. If the problem persists, it may be as a result of a slow drain. If it is left in place the water cannot drain properly and so will spill out from the air gap. The dishwasher drain line connects to the garbage disposer and at that connection is a plug that must be removed prior to using the dishwasher. If the garbage disposer was recently replaced or the dishwasher is newly installed, check the garbage disposer knock out plug. While the hose is off,Ĭheck the garbage disposer's dishwasher inlet to make sure it is clear. To clear the blockage simply remove the hose and flush it out or replace it. If the drainage hose between the air gap and the drain is partially or completely blocked, water from the dishwasher will flow out of the air gap and into the sink. The drain line continues from the air gap to either the garbage disposer or directly to the sink drain. The dishwasher's drain line usually connects to an air gap mounted at the countertop level on the sink.
However, the reason it is in the plumbing code in some communities is that it ensures that sewage can never back up into the sink and then into the dishwasher and contaminate the water supply through the connection to the fresh water supply.Ĭaution: Please read our safety information before attempting any testing or repairs. Instead of flowing through the hose, as it should, it can flow out the air gap and into the sink. Another benefit of an air gap is that if the drain hose becomes clogged, the dishwasher can still pump out the water. That way, the water only leaves the dishwasher when it supposed to, when it is pumped out. The air gap, makes a hole for air to get in. When water flows through the drain hose, it creates a suction on the water still in the dishwasher. However, many people wonder "what is an air gap for?" The air gap is there to prevent the water from being siphoned out of the dishwasher. Many people realize the dishwasher connects to a little thing on top of the sink, some even know that it is called an air gap.
